Hans De Pelsmacker
Production for e15 since 2001
e15 is a German furniture manufacturer who has 4 designs in production.
The HPO1 TAFEL is a sculptural and symmetrical table (2000). It is a closed compartment with 2 seats and a table with identical surfaces. The seats are a bit too close, which creates an intimate atmosphere. At first the HPO1 was made of sanded aluminium only, later oak was used. Since 2007 there is a new model for kids.
The design was selected by Dieter Rams in 2006 for his ’The ideal house’ on the IMM in Cologne.
The HPO4 KAST (2002) is a sculptural bookcase. This design stands like a pillar in the room. The books become visible only if the user stands in between the bookcase and the wall, which creates a more intimate relationship with the books. Because the bookcase stands apart, a new passage is created in space. This design is performed in oak and aluminium, often in vivid colours.
This design was selected by the magazine Wallpaper in 2006 for "10 Best Designs of the Decade".
The HPO5 and 6 KAST are wall-cabinets based on the same concept. The furniture is always sculptural in space with concealed bookshelves.
