Altar and reading desk - St.-Martinus church Sint-Lievens-Esse

At the occasion of the commemoration of Saint Livinius, the church of Sint-Lievens-Esse will be completely emptied in the summer of 2007. Only in the choir there is an old marble font. Central in the church the new altar and reading desk will be installed, forming one axis with the font.
The altar is a closed beam of Balegem stone with sunken table top.
The reading desk is a construction of polished brass and literally provides the speaker a wooden platform.
At first the design also included a bier. This would have been a flat volume of thick felt lying on the floor in the same axis. On one axis would then be represented: birth, celebration, word and death.

Commissioned by the Fabric Committee St.-Martinus.
